Lantana, TX Boil Water Notice Issued After Water Main Break: What Residents Need to Know
Lantana residents received an important community notification on September 19, 2026, following a water main break and concurrent power failure affecting the Lantana Water Districts public water system.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Lantana Water Districts to issue a boil water notice after water pressure within the distribution system dropped below 20 PSI.
One important clarification from the Water District: no contaminants had been detected in Lantana's water at the time the notice was issued. The boil water notice was required because of the loss of water pressure.

Why Was a Boil Water Notice Issued in Lantana?
According to the official notice from the Lantana Water Districts, the community experienced both a water main break and a power failure.
Because water pressure in the distribution system fell below the required level, Texas regulations required the district to issue a precautionary boil water notice.
Although no contaminants had been detected, reduced water pressure can create conditions that require additional testing before the water system can officially be cleared for normal use.
What Should Lantana Residents Do?
Until officials announce that the boil water notice has been rescinded, residents should follow the instructions provided by the Lantana Water District.
Water being used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or other consumption purposes should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for two minutes and then allowed to cool before use.
Residents may also choose to use bottled water or another suitable water source during the notice.
The Water District specifically reminds residents that children, seniors and people with weakened immune systems can be particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, making it especially important to follow the notice carefully.
When Will the Lantana Boil Water Notice Be Lifted?
The Lantana Water District stated that water testing will be completed before the notice is rescinded.
Once officials determine that the water is safe for consumption, residents will receive another community notification officially lifting the boil water notice.
Because the status can change quickly, residents should rely on the Lantana Water District's official communications for the most current information before assuming the notice has ended.
